Can I tell you how much I am enjoying
dogdaysofsummer?
Firstly (and most importantly), it's got me writing, again. I honestly think I've done more writing in the last fortnight than I've done in the last nine months. If not the last year. At Azkatraz, I told several people that I'd been wanting to get back into fandom, but every time I tried I felt like of awkward and at loose ends. I hadn't written in such a long time that I kind of felt like I'd forgotten how; I'd open one of my half-finished fics, then blink at it for a half hour. After that, I usually ended up sprawled on my couch watching NCIS and complaining to
frontbits on the phone that my creative spirit had finally crumbled under the weight of my emo, or whatever.
It's also allowed me to exorcise some of the random snippets that have been bouncing around my head for the last four years. Like the one where Remus and Sirius have a disturbingly domestic moment with baby Harry, or the one where James tries (and fails) to flirt with some girl he met at the pub because he's naffed off at Lily, and also Peter accidentally cockblocks him while Sirius and Remus laugh behind their hands. Both of those are scenes I've kinda-maybe-always wanted to write, but I never got around to it, because they didn't (or wouldn't) necessarily fit inside a proper fic.
Unfortunately, I've managed to get myself a good two or three days behind. My failboat: let me invite you aboard! The prompt for day 14 was a video, and my woefully jurassic internet connection acted -- well, fairly predictable about the whole thing, really. I think I've figured out a way to proceed without actually watching it; I just need to, you know, do it.

Also, the new Cobra Starship album is aces. ILU GABE SAPORTA.
